Crossway Leadership
Crossway is blessed to have a leadership team who are truly dedicated to Christ and accomplishing His will. Following are brief bios of our leadership team.
Joel Capizzi
Lead Elder
Originally from Lynchburg, TN, Pastor Joel has been active in ministry for his entire adult life in roles including music, children, youth, and adults. The path led him to northern Ohio, where in 2010, he accepted the role of senior pastor of Norwalk Baptist Church. However, during a mission trip to Ethiopia, East Africa, in the summer of 2016, he sensed God's call to return to his beloved hometown of Lynchburg, TN, to start Crossway.
In January, 2017, along with a handful of faithful disciples, Pastor Joel planted Crossway with a vision for an authentically scriptural church model, focusing on strong, scriptural teaching, authentic worship, and compassionate outreach. Pastor Joel has a passion for studying and teaching God's Word, leading others to Jesus, and discipling believers.
Chris Stinson
Worship/Administrative Elder
Pastor Chris came to us from the stages of a successful music career in Nashville. However, he brings a strong ministry background to Crossway as well. His ministry roles have included youth, young adults, men, music, and church-planting pastor, co-planting the Edge Outreach in Smyrna, TN.
Pastor Chris took on the role of worship leader for Crossway in January 2019, and in January 2020, he took on the additional role of associate pastor.
Pastor Chris is an incredibly talented musician, but he also excels at Bible teaching and discipleship. His humble, servant-leadership has been an excellent asset to Crossway as he handles much of the administrative responsibilities of the ministry.
Pastor Chris has been happily married for 25 years to his wife, Trina, who has faithfully served God with him for all of these years. They have two grown sons, Aaron and Jacob.
Nathan and Amanda Coker
Youth Directors
Nathan and Amanda Coker, along with a team of committed and passionate volunteers, lead our youth ministry. The Cokers believe that a gospel-centered youth ministry is best built through relationships, and their ministry style reflects this as they passionately pursue relationships with the young people in our communities. Nathan and Amanda are gifted in their ability to connect with young people, and are well-loved by all whom they encounter.
Danielle Deal
Children's Director
Danielle Deal, our Children's Director, is no stranger to Crossway. Before assuming the role of Children's Director, Miss Danielle has demonstrated her love for our children and their families through her dedicated work in our children's ministries for several years. As a mother herself to children Jenalee, Charlette, and John, Danielle comes well-qualified for the role! She, her husband, David, and their family (with pooch "Reni") are a blessing to Crossway's children and their families!
Ryan and Ashley Black
LifeGroups Directors
Ryan and Ashley Black lead and coordinate our small-groups ministry, which we call LifeGroups. Ryan and Ashley have a strong background in biblical, fruitful small-group ministry leadership, both as participants and as leaders. Both have big hearts that love Jesus and people, making them the perfect team for this vital arm of Crossway's ministry. Ryan and Ashley make a family with their children, Connor and Mckenna, and "fur-babies" Piper and Gemma.
